Position Available: Associate Teacher (State Building, Oakland)\

 

Hours: Full-time (40 hours per week)

 

Start Date:         As soon as possible

 

Salary Range:                 Minimum $12.82 - $17.00 depending on education, permit, and experience.

 

The Community Child Care Council (4C’s) of Alameda County is a private non-profit organization serving families and child care providers in Alameda County. 4C’s of Alameda County exists to develop and coordinate resources to strengthen families and children.

 

The Associate Teacher is a non-exempt position.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Passionately meet the children’s needs in all areas - physical, emotional, social and cognitive. 

Assist the mentor teacher with contributions for the developmentally appropriate weekly lesson plans and prepare, in advance, the materials needed for activities. 

Carry out appropriate and positive behavior guidance.

Be sensitive and responsive to parents and co-workers and act as a resource for them.

Attend weekly classroom and monthly staff meetings.

Assist in record keeping for the children in the classroom—accident, incident, and daily health reports.

Observe, record, and report significant individual and group behavior.

Maintain a room environment that is safe, inviting, interesting, stimulating, and based on developmentally appropriate practice. 

Be a supportive team player, professional, flexible, ethical, and respectful.  

 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Child Development Associate Teachers Permit required and/or have 12 postsecondary semester units in early childhood education, as required by Title 22, from an accredited college, and six months of work experience in a licensed Child Care Center.

Three (3) semester units of a qualifying infant/toddler course required.

Shall complete 15 hours of health and safety training, if necessary, pursuant to Health and Safety Code, Section 1596.866

Ability and passion to relate joyfully and sensitively to children

Evidence of emotional maturity and stability

Evidence of sufficient security and judgment to handle crisis situations

Physical stamina

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Facility and agility to move up and down with children from infancy to five (5) years of age.

Facility to see, read and distinguish colors, with or without vision aids, a computer screen, instructional materials, rules and policies and other printed matter.

Physical agility to lift and carry up to 20 pounds and to bend, stoop, walk and reach overhead.

Physical agility to push/pull, squat, twist and turn
